Michael Jordan and LeBron James are the two names that come to mind when analysts and fans think about the greatest basketball player of all time.
The Chicago Bulls legend – who went 6-0 in the NBA Finals, with six Finals MVPs – and the Los Angeles Lakers superstar – who got a championship to his home state Cleveland – cemented a legacy that’s hard to match.
Kept it real! Luka Doncic disses LeBron James by calling Michael Jordan the NBA GOAT
While Jordan went on to become a mogul and a powerhouse in fashion, James is still going strong on his 22nd season, as he pursues his fifth NBA championship with the Lakers, a franchise that has already catpured a Larry O’Brien Trophy in 2020.
Luka Doncic disses LeBron James and praise Michael Jordan
The Los Angeles Lakers made one of the biggest trades in NBA history when they got Slovenian superstar Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for All-Star big man Anthony Davis, who helped LeBron win a championship for the California team five years ago.
Luka will be a major part of the Lakers pursue of another championship, witth the Los Angeles team currently holding third place of the Western Conference, just behind the leader Oklahoma City Thunder and the impressive Houston Rockets.
However, that does not mean that Doncic thinks that LeBron James is the best basketball player of all time. A resurfaced video of October 2023 shows Luka answering the 1 million dollar question: who does he consider to be the best baller ever. His answer? Michael Jordan. “MJ, it’s MJ,” the Slovenian baller said. That’s gotta hurt LeBron James ego, for sure.
To be fair, Luka could have a little biased. After all, he did sign a contract extension on August 24, 2023 with the Jordan Brand. The deal runs through 2029. The partnership continued Doncic’s run as a leading face for the shoe powerhouse. The international superstar became Jordan Brand’s first European born.and-raised signature athlete in 2019.”
Lakers lock the 3-seed in the Western Conference
The Los Angeles Lakers absolutely dominated the Houston Rockets 140-109 and clinched the third seed in a loaded Western Conference playoff field. The Texas team had already clinched the 2-seed so they decided to rest all of their key players before the beginning of the postseason.
Luka Doncic had a great night, scoring 39 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Young sensation Austin Reaves scored 23 points, while LeBron James added 14 points before sitting out the final 19 minutes of the Lakers sixth win in eight games, a great run before the playoffs.
With the win, the Purple and Gold won its 25th Pacific Division title since the NBA began divisional play in 1970. Forward Dorian Finney-Smith – who was traded from the Dallas Mavericks – had a strong perimeter game, hitting six 3-pointers. The future is looking bright for the Los Angeles team.
