Speaking during a recent press conference, Doncic was asked in Spanish about Bad Bunny and did not hesitate to highlight the artist’s worldwide influence and deep connection to Latin culture, pointing to the mutual respect that has developed between the two international figures.

The relationship between Doncic and Bad Bunny has been visible for several years, particularly through the Puerto Rican artist’s music. Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio and who was named Spotify’s Artist of the Year, has repeatedly referenced the basketball star in his lyrics.

Most recently, he did so on the track “La Jumpa,” a collaboration with rapper Arcángel released on Nov. 30. The song includes a nod to Doncic‘s signature move with the line “Luka, stepback, the jumpa,” linking the NBA star’s on-court style to the track’s swagger.

This was not the first time Doncic has appeared in Bad Bunny‘s music. In 2020, the artist referenced him on “25/8,” from the album “YHLQMDLG,” with the lyric “Hoy salimo’ pa’ la calle / Luka Doncic, no hay manera que yo falle,” a line that further cemented the connection between the two. “La Jumpa” appeared on Arcángel’s album, “Señor Santos.”

Doncic‘s comments ahead of the Super Bowl performance reflect how that admiration goes both ways. While Bad Bunny has celebrated the Slovenian star through his music, Luka has embraced the recognition and acknowledged the artist’s impact beyond music, particularly within Latin communities around the world.

As Bad Bunny prepares for one of the biggest stages in entertainment, the exchange highlights a shared global reach that continues to blur the lines between sports and popular culture.
