Malik Nabers was one of the most talented players coming out of the NFL Draft. A lot is expected of him especially after some interesting situations that happened after the started his career with the New York Giants.
The first preseason game finally came and after tense joint practices with the Detroit Lions, everyone was ready to see him at MetLife Stadium this Thursday night as fans filled into the stands even for a game that only means preparation for the upcoming regular season.
Sadly, for the Giants faithful and also the head coaches, Nabers had a more than quiet night. He was not targeted at all after 12 snaps he participated in and then he was pulled off the game once the first quarter ended.
The Giants got the win
The LSU product might want to forget about his first night as a pro, looking forward to a better official debut once Week 1 comes to officially start the NFL regular season. The good news was that his team got the win over a very talented team, although it is preseason.
Giants’ backup quarterback Drew Lock started the game in place of Daniel Jones and he struggled to move the ball. Eric Gray rushed for a 48-yard touchdown for one of the two scores the team had in their 14-3 win over the Lions.
The second preseason game for New York will be on August 17 as they will face the Houston Texans. Nabers will have a second opportunity to impress, however it is still not certain that Daniel Jones will play.
