Wayne Rooney, the Manchester United and England football icon, has raised concerns about his health after being photographed looking noticeably unwell while watching his former club’s 3-0 loss to Tottenham at Old Trafford.
The 38-year-old, who recently steered Plymouth Argyle to two wins from their last four Championship games, appeared in the stands wearing a black coat, looking visibly tired and unimpressed with United’s performance.
The photo, shared by Sky Sports on X (formerly Twitter), quickly garnered attention from fans, many of whom expressed worry about Rooney‘s appearance, suggesting he looked “really bad” and older than his years.
Despite the lighthearted comments, many of the responses urged the football legend to prioritize his health.
Fans React to Rooney’s Appearance
After the image circulated online, fans voiced their concerns about Rooney‘s health.
One commenter noted, “He looks really bad,” while another added, “Rooney looks older than his age. He needs to take care of himself.”
Other comments were more tongue-in-cheek, with one fan joking, “Is he suffocating? He’s all red. Asking out of concern.”
Rooney has been open about his struggle with weight gain in recent years.
In 2022, he admitted during a Sky Sports appearance that he was wearing the same suit from his Premier League Hall of Fame induction because it was the only one that fit him.
He said, “I’ve put on a little bit of weight… It’s the only suit that’ll fit me at the minute.”
In his 2012 autobiography, My Decade In The Premier League, Rooney confessed that even during his playing days, he would quickly gain weight if he didn’t train for just a week.
Despite his ongoing success as a football manager, fans remain concerned about his post-retirement health.
While Rooney continues to lead Plymouth Argyle‘s Championship campaign, many hope the legendary player will prioritize his well-being moving forward.
