According to MARA, Janet George and Barbara Humpton have been appointed as new board members, while Doug Mellinger has been named the lead independent director, effective September 1, 2024.

Janet George and Barbara Humpton replace Kevin DeNuccio and Said Ouissal, who stepped down as part of a planned transition. The appointments highlight MARA’s commitment to enhancing its board with leaders who bring deep expertise in AI, data centers, and energy, crucial for driving the company’s strategic initiatives.
Background of New Appointees
Janet George brings extensive experience in artificial intelligence and data centers. She most recently served as Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Data Center & Artificial Intelligence at Intel Corporation. Her career includes senior roles at Oracle, Western Digital, Accenture, Yahoo, eBay, and Apple. George holds an advanced master’s degree in computer science with a focus on AI and serves on the advisory board of Gandeeva Therapeutics.
Barbara Humpton, currently the President and CEO of Siemens USA, oversees a $19 billion portfolio focusing on energy-efficient technologies. Her leadership has driven continuous innovation at Siemens, leveraging AI and industrial data. Humpton has also held senior positions at Booz Allen Hamilton and Lockheed Martin and serves on advisory boards for several organizations, including the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond and Fluence.
Doug Mellinger as Lead Independent Director
Doug Mellinger, who has served on the MARA board since March 2022, will now focus on enhancing governance and strategic oversight as the lead independent director. Mellinger is a Managing Director at Clarion Capital Partners and has a robust background in technology and finance, having held positions at Palm Ventures, Zeno Ventures, and Enherent Corp.
