The Dallas Cowboys’ offseason has been one of the most explosive in years. Salary disputes and controversies have been the order of the day in Arlington, and the last thing Jerry Jones’ team needs is a feud between its stars. However, it seems Micah Parsons and Malik Hooker did not get the memo.
In one of the most recent episodes of the Cowboys’ 2024 “soap opera,” Hooker took a swipe at his teammate for recording a weekly podcast during the regular season. “My advice for Micah would be just make sure we’re alright,” the safety said in late June on the “All Facts no Break” podcast.
“Because if we’re at work and the run game’s terrible but you’re doing a podcast every week and you know the run game is terrible then what are you really caring about?” Hooker asked about the podcast “The Edge with Micah Parsons.”
At the time, the linebacker responded to his teammate’s criticism, and it seemed the problem was behind them. However, Parsons’ recent statements to lonestarlive.com’s Joseph Hoyt rekindled the feud with his teammate.
Parsons vs. Hooker… again
Although Parson seemed calm, his words showed that not everything is over between him and Hooker. “It’s just one of those things. It is what it is. What people do in their free time, that’s what they do,” said the linebacker.
He explained that his podcast is something he does in his free time by saying, “I know what I do in my free time, so make sure you’re hopping on ‘The Edge’ if you’ve got a chance on Monday or Tuesday nights.”
Parsons further encouraged his teammate to mind his own business. “What he does on his Monday and Tuesday nights when he’s not in the building, that’s on him. What I do, that’s me and my business and my family, so I’m going to keep it at that,” the linebacker said.
Training camps
Parsons and Hooker have been sharing a locker room since Thursday, July 25, when head coach Mike McCarthy began the team’s training camps.
This first part of the preseason will extend until August 21. The team’s first preseason game will be on August 11 against the Los Angeles Rams, and they will debut in the regular season on September 8 against the Cleveland Browns.
Although everything has been very silent in the Cowboys’ camp, tensions could explode at any moment between two temperaments as strong as Parsons and Hooker.
