There is an air of confidence surrounding the Dallas Cowboys ahead of their big Monday Night Football game with the Cincinnati Bengals.
America’s Team enter the game on a two-game winning streak after victories over NFC East rivals Washington Commanders and New York Giants.
The wins have helped boost Dallas’ playoff hopes despite dealing with a raft of injuries, including losing Dak Prescott to a hamstring injury that required surgery. Nevertheless, the Cowboys are keen to make a statement against the Bengals, starting with Micah Parsons.
“I’ve got to do my job at extremely high level. I’ve got to be the best player on the field,” Parsons said this week.
“If Joe Burrow’s record was opposite (8-4 instead of 4-8), he’ll be the leading running for MVP. I still think he should be the MVP. I mean he’s leading in passing yards, passing touchdowns this year.”
Cowboys missing names on defense
While the loss of Prescott is a big one, the Cowboys have really been hit by the injury bug on the defensive side of the ball.
Cornerback Trevon Diggs is dealing with groin and knee issues, and while DaRon Bland has helped the secondary, the loss of Josh Butler poses a new hurdle to overcome.
It poses a huge problem given they will be going up against a Bengals receiving corps led by Ja’Marr Chase, who leads the league with 1,142 yards and 13 touchdowns on 79 catches.
Alongside him is Tee Higgins, who hasn’t hit the heights of previous seasons, but still has 558 yards and five touchdowns.
Dallas enter the game with the 13th ranked pass defense, allowing 212.1 yards per game, while Cincinnati lead the league with 264.3 passing yards per game.
