The 2025 NFL offseason is in full swing and has hit a critical point. Following the first major wave of free agency, front offices continue to keep tabs on available players while putting a lot of their attention on the 2025 NFL Draft. A lot of eyes have been on the Dallas Cowboys, naturally, after a rough season.
Jerry Jones needed to make some splashes to keep some of the criticism directed towards him at bay. He hasn’t really done that, as the team has acquired cast-offs from other teams for cheap while re-signing only one or two important players. But the most important player, Micah Parsons, is still waiting for his big contract extension. Cowboys fans thought Jones had learned from his past mistakes, but he continues to wait it out once again.
He would leave! Micah Parsons admits that he would not be part of the Dallas Cowboys if this happens
Given how much money Parsons is set to make, it’s natural for Jones to want to see if anything changes before making a huge commitment. But by doing so, he has also seen Myles Garrett reset the pass-rusher market with a massive deal.
Micah Parsons wants $40 million per year to be the “happiest man alive”
Parsons and his agent have obviously caught wind of it, and Parsons has come out to say exactly how much money would please him.
I just played these last couple years on $2 and $3 million. I think if I had $40 million, I’d be the happiest man alive. You go from playing for the league rookie minimum and get that big of a jump, I think anybody would be happy.
According to Cowboys beat writer Clarence Hill, Parsons told him that negotiations are “coming along well“. Garrett’s mega contract pays him $40 million per year. Parsons may be just one level under Garrett, but he’s younger and his production speaks for itself. It’s up to Jones to give him what he wants, ideally as soon as possible.
