Micah Parsons slams Giants’ front office and calls for investigation after letting go of an old friend

The first NFL game in South America between the Eagles and Packers also marked Saquon Barkley’s debut. The new Philadelphia running back made a significant impact, contributing three touchdowns and totaling 132 rushing yards. He was crucial in securing his team’s first win, 34-29, over Green Bay.

Saquon Barkley’s arrival in Philadelphia has tarnished the reputation of the New York Giants for allowing him to join their division rival.Barkley was replaced by NY with D’Andre Swift, who was acquired by the team in a trade with the Detroit Lions.

Micah Parsons, linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys, didn’t hesitate to tweet calling for an investigation into the unusual circumstances surrounding Barkley’s departure from NY.

“The Giants should be under investigation!” Parsons tweeted during the game.

The History Between Parsons and Barkley

Both played at Penn State during their college careers but, interestingly, never shared the field. Micah’s first year at Penn State was 2018, the same season Barkley was drafted by the Giants.

Nevertheless, Barkley was instrumental in getting Penn State to notice Micah, and they developed a close friendship.

“I kind of helped recruit him to come to Penn State. Obviously, Coach Franklin and all those guys, Coach Pry, and Spencer did a really good job of helping me get there too.”

“So, I’ve known him since he was 17 or 18 years old, and I was happy to see a guy from the area he’s from-he put a lot of hard work in to be able to come into the NFL and (he’s) slowly emerging as one of the marquee players in the NFL.

It’s likely that Micah Parsons’ frustration with New York stems from the mishandling of his old friend Saquon’s departure.

How Was the Deal Between Barkley and the Eagles?

Barkley joined Philadelphia as a free agent, and it wasn’t cheap; he will earn $12 million for this season. Of this amount, $9 million is his salary, and $3 million is the signing bonus he received.

At 27 years old, Saquon aims to prove that, together with Jalen Hurts, he can help Philadelphia develop an offense that scares any team in the National Conference.
