Jasmine Jordan, the daughter of NBA legend Michael Jordan, recently paid a sweet tribute to her five-year-old son, Rakeem, in celebration of National Son’s Day.
Taking to Instagram, Jasmine shared a photo of her son in the kitchen, proudly referring to him as her “favorite chef” in the caption.
“Happy National Son Day with my Favorite Chef #MamasBoy,” Jasmine Jordan wrote on Instagram, showcasing their close bond on this special occasion.
Jasmine is the eldest daughter of Michael Jordan and his ex-wife, Juanita Vanoy. She made the six-time NBA champion a grandfather for the first time in 2019 when she and her husband, Rakeem Christmas, welcomed their son, Rakeem Michael Christmas.
In a 2020 interview with Andscape, Jasmine described how her father adapted to his new role as a grandparent, revealing that it took him a moment to fully accept it. According to Jasmine, Michael initially hesitated to acknowledge his new title but soon discovered just how much he enjoyed being a grandfather.
“He never wants to feel like he’s old, but he is a grandpa, and he loves it,” Jasmine explained.
“He loves playing with his grandson, and it’s something I think he never knew he was going to love as much as he does.”
Rakeem’s milestone: From pre-school to kindergarten
Earlier this month, Jasmine celebrated another important moment in her son’s life-his graduation from preschool and his first day of kindergarten. Jasmine marked the occasion by sharing a series of photos on Instagram, including Rakeem in his graduation robe and moments from his first day in kindergarten. She accompanied the post with a heartfelt message for her son.
“You amaze me every single day, and there isn’t a single thing you can’t do. Here’s to your next chapter and new beginnings!”
