Nikola Jokic gives away the game ball he earned after an historic night for the Denver Nuggets and the NBA

Nikola Jokic will go down in history as one of the best big men in the NBA‘s history, with an impressive career full of accolades.

He has three MVP awards (2021, 2022 and 2024), one NBA championship (2023), and he’s the first player with at least 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 500 assists in a season.

No hesitation! Nikola Jokic immediately gives away an historic game ball he earned with Denver

Jokic‘s record-breaking play this season has him in contention for a fourth MVP award, an achievement only five other players in league history can claim (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar,Michael Jordan, Bill Russell, LeBron James and Wilt Chamberlain).

Nikola gives away an historic basketball

In Denver’s overtime win over the Phoenix Suns on Friday night, Nikola Jokic added his most singularly impressive entry yet of his NBA careeer, as he became the first player in the league’s history to amass at least 30 points, 20 rebounds and 20 assists in a single game.

The Serbian superstar finished with 31, 21 and 22, respectively in his latest statistically overwhelming performance. The Nuggets superstar is a big reason of why Denver is currently 3rd in the Western Conference, just behind the very impressive Los Angeles Lakers and the young Oklahoma City Thunder squad.

Nuggets head coach Mike Malone recognized Jokic’s greatness and he decided to give the big man the game ball, something that Nikola received with gratitude but immediately proceeded to give the basketball away to his kids, who were in the locker room with him.

Denver will go as far as Jokic goes

Nikola Jokic shared a typically humble reaction to his own achievement during a postgame interview on ESPN after his historic performance. “It’s gonna be nice to go finish my career, on my couch, and think I had a really good game,” the Serbian superstar said.

Despite several key veteran departures on the Nuggets since their 2023 NBA championship, Jokic has Denver high up in the Western Conference. After Friday’s performance, the Nuggets are now the only team in the league with a perfect 5-0 record in overtime games.

The team will go as far as Jokic goes, and he has a proven record of being able to step in big games that can go down to the wire. Alongside Canadian guard Jamal Murray, veterans like Russell Westbrook, Aaron Gordon, Michael Porter Jr. and youngsters like Christian Braun and Julian Strawther, Denver wants to compete for a Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy.
