One Battle After Another wins Best Picture from Critics Society

If there’s one thing you can count on from the film industry this year, it’s that critics adore Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another. The epic political thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio is already a winner at shows like the Gotham Independent Film Awards, the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, a Best Picture win at the National Society of Film Critics, and the Golden Globe for the Best Motion Picture of a Comedy or Musical. The film has also been recently nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture.

Just before the Oscars, One Battle After Another has received another win for the Best Picture of 2025 from the Online Film Critics Society. According to Deadline, the society recently awarded their picks for last year’s best films. The group was founded in 1997. Members include writers from outlets such as Slant, Paste Magazine, AARP, and Sight & Sound. The winners were chosen by nearly 300 voting members from around the world. Despite One Battle After Another getting the top prize, Sinners would come away with the most wins.

Could this be a preview of how The Oscars will turn out? We shall see.
