Pat McAfee still can’t believe Davante Adams is going to another team

Pat McAfee is stunned that Davante Adams will be leaving the Las Vegas Raiders after the star wide receiver handied in a trade request, as the New York Jets beat the Kansas City in the race for the 31-year-old.

Adams expressed his desire to leave the Allegiant Stadium on October 1 and attracted interest from a lot of teams, such as Aaron Rodgers’ Jets as well as the New Orleans Saints, where he could reunite with two quarterbacks he previously played with.

Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs are also in need of another receiver following injuries to Hollywood Brown and Rashee Rice, and Travis Kelce has struggled for form.

And when news broke that Adams was being traded to the Jets, as per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, McAfee had an interesting, but cryptic, reaction to the news as he seemingly couldn’t believe his eyes.

“Holy f**k,” McAfee posted to X.com, formerly Twitter, along with three wide-eyed emojis as he seemingly couldn’t believe the news before him. He won’t have to wait long to grill a Jets representative for details either, as he hosts Rodgers on his show on Tuesday, October 15.

What are the details of the Adams trade?

According to Rapoport, who broke the news at 10:00 ET/07:00 PT, the Raiders will receive a conditional third-round pick.

That will reunite Rodgers and Adams in New York, after the pair enjoyed a highly successful relationship during their time with the Green Bay Packers from 2014-2022 where they combined for 7,590 yards and 69 touchdowns from 622 receptions.

The success was so strong that Rodgers won three of his four MVP awards with Adams as his favorite target, in what could set the Jets up for a chance to rescue their failing AFC East season in 2024/25.
