The blockbuster trade involving Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis hasn’t just shaken the basketball world – it’s sent shockwaves around the sports world, including the NFL.
Patrick Mahomes, star of the Kansas City Chiefs, couldn’t hide his shock when news that the Maverick were sending Doncic to the Lakers for Davis broke.
While Mahomes, along with the rest of the Chiefs, are hard at work preparing for next week’s Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles, he couldn’t help but weigh in on the trade, especially because it involves his beloved Mavs.

Mahomes left stunned
Safe to say Mahomes couldn’t believe what he was reading, as his initially response to the trade was: “Wait what?”
He then added “I’m sick rn”, a sign that he wasn’t all that convinced by the Mavs’ decision to trade Doncic and acquire the older Davis.
However, Mahomes seemed to come around on the idea of pairing Kyrie Irving with a big man in Davis, as he later wrote: “Kyrie and AD going to be nice tho!”
More NFL reaction
Mahomes wasn’t the only NFL star to weigh in on the blockbuster move. Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon went to far as to suggest the trade was a pretext to LeBron James being traded to the Golden State Warriors.
“LeBron James got be traded to the @Warriors,” Mixon wrote on X. “IT’S ONLY RIGHT.”
The Los Angeles Rams also weighed in on the city getting another star in Doncic, writing: “That Puka Doncic nickname hittin’ different now.”
