The Kansas City Chiefs are the only team in the NFL that remain undefeated. However, their leader and best player seems to be struggling, as Patrick Mahomes has been criticized for his poor play in the start of the season.
With that said, things might not be as bad as people say. It’s true that he only has six touchdown passes and he has thrown eight interceptions, but if we do a more in depth analysis things are looking good.
Mahomes is not to be faulted entirely for his interceptions as his teammates have not helped. Yet still, overall, when it comes to making a play, the Chiefs quarterback is still elite and he has led his team to game winning or sealing drives.
Certain stats must be upgraded
There are some things that could be better. The improvement is needed in certain areas like taking care of the ball and in trying to be more explosive on offense, but still they are scoring.
With the previous stated, they rank as number four in positive EPA%, they are seventh in scoring drive percentage, fourth lowest punt average and they have run the second fewest plays that go for no gain or a loss.
While criticism has mounted off the last few weeks, there is no question that the team can turn it around. Last season they were having issues as well and in case people forgot, they ended up winning the Super Bowl.
