Patrick Mahomes is Unstoppable: Leads the KC Chiefs to a 27-19 victory over the Houston Texans

Patrick Mahomes doesn’t let anything stop him. With an injury slowing him down, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback led his team to a 27-19 victory over the Houston Texans, getting closer to securing home-field advantage for the entire NFL playoffs.

Much was said during the week about the injury that Mahomes suffered last week in the game against the Cleveland Browns. While his detractors claimed that he was faking the injury, some analysts considered that head coach Andy Reid should not risk him in the game against the Texans.

When the day came, Mahomes jumped onto the field and not only that, he even had the luxury of a personal 15-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Mahomes finished the game with 28 completions on 41 attempts, 260 yards, and a touchdown pass.

Mahomes gave the Chiefs two scores

After his run to the end zone in the first quarter, Mahomes completed an eight-yard touchdown pass to Xavier Worthy in the third quarter. Running back Kareem Hunt added another score with a three-yard run in the second quarter and Harrison Butker hit field goals of 44 and 27 yards.

The Texans fought for most of the game. C.J. Stroud completed two end zone passes, the first of 10 yards to Dalton Schultz in the second quarter and the second of 30 to Tank Dell in the third. Ka’imi Fairbairn hit field goals of 33 and 18 yards, and missed the extra point on the second touchdown.

Stroud completed 23 of 38 for 244 yards, two touchdown passes and two interceptions. The Chiefs improved to 14-1 and are better than ever in the AFC West, while the Texans fell to 9-6, still locked into first place in the AFC South.

What’s next for the Chiefs and Texans?

Kansas City has a tough season finale on the road, facing the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 17 and the Denver Broncos in Week 18. Houston, meanwhile, hosts the Baltimore Ravens and visits the Tennessee Titans, in that order, to close out its regular season.

Both teams have secured their respective division titles and, with them, their tickets to the postseason; however, we can still expect a thrilling end to the regular season, with the Chiefs and Texans fine-tuning the details for a deep playoff run.
