Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh revealed that the team’s front office has held internal discussions about a contract extension for their star quarterback and two-time NFL MVP, Lamar Jackson.

At the start of free agency, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen signed a contract extension worth $330 million, with $250 million guaranteed, making him the highest-paid player in NFL history in terms of guaranteed money. However, Lamar Jackson is on track to surpass him.

“The value is at its peak. When Lamar gets paid, he will be the highest-paid player in football, just like last time. With every contract he signs, probably until he retires, he will be that player,” said John Harbaugh.

In 2023, Lamar signed a five-year, $260 million deal. Since then, he won his second MVP award in 2023 and came close to winning it the previous season, though, controversially, Josh Allen ended up taking the title.

What will Lamar Jackson’s possible contract look like in 2026? Or perhaps even earlier?

Projections indicate that Lamar Jackson is on track to receive the largest quarterback contract in NFL history. He is expected to sign a five-year, $325 million extension, making it the most significant average salary deal ever.

Despite not yet reaching the Super Bowl, Jackson is a two-time NFL MVP, three-time All-Pro, four-time Pro Bowl selection, and on paper, one of the top three quarterbacks in the NFL alongside Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen.

Lamar Jackson’s stats with the Ravens

At 28 years old, Jackson is coming off the best season of his seven-year NFL career. Last season, he took his game to another level, setting personal records with 4,172 passing yards and 41 touchdown passes.

The biggest challenge for Jackson is his playoff record, which stands at 3-5. Reaching the Super Bowl remains a major goal for a player who, based on his stats and especially his talent, is on track to become one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.
