Drake Maye has officially taken his place among NFL royalty. The New England Patriots quarterback delivered another spectacular performance in a Week 13 win over the New York Giants, earning a 126.0 passer rating.
That was the best mark of the week, and Maye became the only quarterback under age 24 since 1950 to record 10 straight wins with an 80-plus QB rating, a feat previously achieved only by Hall of Famer Dan Marino.
Maye completed 24 of 31 passes for 282 yards in the 44-21 victory, continuing the red-hot stretch that has catapulted New England to an NFL-best 11-2 record.
Maye now joins Marino in the NFL record book
The milestone places him shoulder-to-shoulder with Marino, a legendary Dolphins great widely considered one of the most gifted passers to ever play the game.
Marino achieved his streak during a season in which he became the youngest NFL MVP in history – a record that stood until Lamar Jackson broke it in 2019. Now, Maye’s own MVP case is growing by the week.
FanDuel currently lists him as the frontrunner (+100), barely edging out Los Angeles Rams star Matthew Stafford (+105), with Green Bay’s Jordan Love trailing far behind.
Nothing can distract Maye from his goal
The comparisons to Marino – and even Tom Brady – are getting louder in Foxborough, but Maye insists his eyes remain forward. The Patriots hit a bye in Week 14 before a challenging finish featuring showdowns with the Bills and Ravens and two AFC East rematches against Miami and the Jets.
If New England maintains its momentum, a first-round playoff bye could soon be secured. And as long as Maye keeps stacking historic performances, the MVP chants at Gillette Stadium won’t be slowing down anytime soon.
