Paul George’s dad on his son’s exit: If you’ve got to leave, we’re gonna leave

Paul George‘s time with the Los Angeles Clippers, once filled with high expectations for a championship run, has come to an unexpected end. The relationship between George and the Clippers deteriorated after a challenging season, leading to his departure from the team.

This split has not only affected George but also his family, particularly his father, Paul George Sr., who recently expressed his disappointment in how the Clippers handled the situation. During a discussion on the “Podcast P” show, George Sr. shared his frustration with the team’s decisions regarding his son’s future.

Kawhi Leonard caught smoking in Kendrick Lamar concert

“I thought Paul did a whole lot for the team,” George Sr. said.

“I think he gave them 110%, and what he was asking, it wasn’t a whole lot. But they saw something different. I was looking at going nextdoor [to the Lakers], but they already spent too much money.

“So he felt that that was a bunch of bull that they came at him with. And I wasn’t gonna sugarcoat it either. Yeah, I’m behind you 100%. If you’ve got to leave, we’re gonna leave.”

Breakdown in negotiations

Reports indicate that George was seeking a max contract to stay with the Clippers, or at the very least, a contract similar to the one held by his teammate Kawhi Leonard. However, the Clippers were unwilling to meet these demands, which ultimately pushed George to leave and sign with the Philadelphia 76ers.

George’s career has had its share of significant challenges, most notably a severe leg injury in 2014 while playing for the Indiana Pacers.

The injury, which involved an open fracture of both his tibia and fibula, sidelined him for nearly the entire 2014/15 NBA season.

Despite these setbacks, George made a strong comeback and became a pivotal player for the Clippers. However, the recent breakdown in negotiations and his subsequent move to the 76ers mark a new chapter in his career.
