Pete Carroll, the celebrated NFL coach, is embarking on a new chapter with the Las Vegas Raiders, and he’s not alone in his mission. The 73-year-old, best known for his tenure with the Seattle Seahawks, now has the invaluable support of Tom Brady, former NFL star and minority owner of the Raiders as he works to reshape the team.
Carroll, who returns to the NFL in 2025 after a year away, emphasized during his introductory press conference that Brady’s insights will be instrumental in finding and developing a new quarterback for the franchise. “We happen to have the greatest of all time to help us,” Carroll said, referencing Brady’s unmatched expertise.
Brady’s strategic influence on the Raiders
While Brady’s role as a minority owner is largely behind the scenes, his presence in the Raiders organization is expected to have a major impact on team-building decisions, particularly at the quarterback position. Carroll expressed excitement about leveraging Brady’s unparalleled experience.
“We’re going to lean on Tom as much as we possibly can for his insights,” Carroll stated. “Nobody has the perspective he does, and that makes him incredibly unique.”
Having previously coached Russell Wilson to great success in Seattle, Carroll is no stranger to developing top-tier quarterbacks. However, he acknowledged that building a well-rounded team to support the quarterback will be equally critical.
“It’s about making a great football team around the quarterback position,” Carroll explained. “There’s a way to embrace the challenge that the quarterback has from the rest of the team, and we need to support that.”
A new chapter for both legends
Carroll and Brady share a storied history, including their Super Bowl XLIX showdown when the New England Patriots defeated the Seahawks. Now, they join forces in an effort to elevate the Raiders franchise.
Although Brady was not present at the press conference, his influence is already apparent. Carroll revealed that the seven-time Super Bowl champion played a pivotal role in his hiring, calling it a
“once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” to work alongside one of the greatest competitors in NFL history.
“This is his chance to put his stamp on a franchise,” Carroll said of Brady. “He will continue to be involved, and we’re going to lean on him like crazy.”
The partnership between Carroll and Brady could signal a turning point for the Raiders, as they aim to build a championship-caliber team in Las Vegas.
