The NFL is in a golden era at the moment. Despite several high-profile quarterbacks retiring in recent years, there are a ton of skilled offensive players that make the sport as exciting as ever. That’s particularly true about the wide receiver position.
Last season saw five receivers go over 1,400 yards, and two surpassed 1,700. A.J. Brown, Puka Nacua and Amon-Ra St. Brown rounded out the top five, with Tyreek Hill and CeeDee Lamb leading the way with historic seasons. Anything can happen in 2024 and there are other super-talented wideouts, but Hill and Lamb are at the pinnacle right now; just maybe not for Peyton Manning.
Peyton Manning chooses his dream passing game weapons
The former Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos quarterback recently appeared on The Stephen A. Smith Show and was asked to pick his dream passing weapons setup. There wasn’t any room for Hill or Lamb.
To be fair, Manning switched things up by taking off one of the wide receivers and adding an extra tight end as one of his four weapons. It’s tough to argue with his logic.
He then chose Justin Jefferson as his first wide receiver, which makes sense given his track record and record-breaking talent. He then bypassed Hill and Lamb to choose Ja’Marr Chase. Chase is also one of the very best, but he hasn’t had the same monster season that Hill and Lamb have.
Once Manning made his picks, Smith questioned him about putting Chase over Hill, to which he cheekily responded: “I’m putting Tyreek at running back“.
