The Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2024, announced at the NFL Honors ceremony in Las Vegas, includes seven distinguished players who have made significant contributions to the NFL.
Dwight Freeney
He was a dominant defensive end known for his speed and spin move. Starting his career with the Indianapolis Colts, he recorded 13 sacks as a rookie and continued to excel, earning seven Pro Bowl selections and three All-Pro honors. His induction comes in his second year of eligibility.
Devin Hester
Acclaimed as the greatest return specialist in NFL history, he holds the record for most punt-return touchdowns (14) and total return touchdowns (20). Hester’s electrifying returns, including one in Super Bowl XLI, solidified his legacy. He also contributed as a receiver with over 3,000 yards and 16 touchdowns. Hester’s induction follows three years as a finalist.
Andre Johnson
He stood out as a top wide receiver despite playing for the Houston Texans, a team often challenged by inconsistent quarterback play. Johnson recorded seven seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards and led the NFL in receiving yards in 2008 and 2009. He finished with 1,062 receptions and 70 touchdowns, earning seven Pro Bowl selections and two All-Pro nods.
Julius Peppers
A versatile defensive end, Peppers recorded 159.5 sacks over his career, ranking fourth all-time. He was known for his rare blend of size, speed, and athleticism, earning Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2002. Peppers made nine Pro Bowl appearances and is a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
Patrick Willis
He had a shorter career but was highly impactful as a linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers. He earned five first-team All-Pro selections and seven Pro Bowl appearances in eight seasons. Willis was known for his leadership and tackling ability, playing a key role in the 49ers’ defense during their playoff runs.
Randy Gradishar
A key player in the Denver Broncos‘ “Orange Crush” defense, Gradishar was known for his intelligence and tackling prowess. He spent his entire career with the Broncos, earning seven Pro Bowl selections and two All-Pro honors. Gradishar’s induction as a senior finalist marks a long-awaited recognition of his contributions.
Steve McMichael
A key figure on the Chicago Bears‘ 1985 defense, McMichael was hailed for his toughness on the defensive line. He recorded 95 sacks and 847 tackles in his career, earning two Pro Bowl selections and two All-Pro honors. McMichael’s induction as a senior finalist is especially poignant as he battles ALS.
