Patrick Mahomes’ grandfather seems to be healthy again after being discharged from the hospital with enough strength to be able to watch the Kansas City Chiefs compete in the 2024/25 NFL season.
Randy Martin, father of Patrick’s mother, Randi, has been in hospital for most of the season as he tries to recover from a long battle with illness and now it seems he’s finally over the condition and on the mend following his October discharge.
That came around about the time the Chiefs headed on their bye week after emerging victorious over the New Orleans Saints as Randi shocked fans by posting a photo of the pair in the car with the caption, “Dad got out today!! He was determined too.”
And as he continues to gather strength, Randi posted a loving message to X.com, formerly Twitter, to calm fans and the Mahomes’ family as she celebrates the time they’re spending together.
“Headed to visit my dad. Priceless time and talks…,” Randi posted on November 15, earning 388 likes as fans poured in their love and encouraged her to continue spending time with her father throughout the year.
Mahomes targeted in robberies
The news comes as a positive break for Patrick as he finds himself at the centre of a targeted robbery scandal as thieves look to steal championship-winning rings from NFL and NBA stars including Travis Kelce, Minnesota Timberwolves’ Mike Conley Jr. and the Milwaukee Bucks’ Bobby Portis.
The quartet have had their homes broken into in the latter half of the year, with Patrick’s being targeted on October 6, although it’s unclear if criminals made off with anything of value. A day later, Kelce’s was broken into and $20,000 worth of goods were stolen.
As a result, Wisconsin’s River Hill’s officers think the crimes could all be linked after discussions with Kansas City and Minnesota police as well as handing over the case to the FBI for the input of the federal agency too.
