With the upcoming NBA season drawing near, the prediction game is in full swing.
Fifteen-time NBA All-Star Kevin Garnett recently threw in his thoughts, suggesting the Phoenix Suns could achieve a 50-win season after their up-and-down performance last year.

However, Lakers legend and seven-time NBA champion Robert Horry isn’t convinced by Garnett‘s optimism.
Appearing on the Big Shot Bob Podcast with co-hosts Rob Jenners and Ron Harper, Horry bluntly rejected Garnett‘s prediction.
When asked whether he believed the Suns could reach 50 wins, Horry simply responded, “No.”
Harper pointed out that the Suns secured 47 wins last season and argued that three more victories might be possible, but Horry remained firm.
“Any team in the NBA can win 50 games,” Horry remarked, casting doubt on Garnett’s take.
Horry went on to explain that while Phoenix is a talented team, the competition has only intensified.
“I’m not saying Phoenix is a scrub; I’m just saying everybody else is good,” Horry said.
He noted that most teams in the league, apart from the LA Clippers, Portland Trail Blazers, and Utah Jazz, have strengthened significantly over the summer, which could make it tough for the Suns to improve on last season’s performance.
Despite Horry‘s reservations, the Suns have had a busy offseason. They brought in 2021 championship-winning coach Mike Budenholzer and added point guard Tyus Jones to their roster, hoping these changes will lead to a deep playoff run.
Garnett questioned by Paul Pierce
However, Paul Pierce also questioned Garnett’s optimism. Speaking on the KG Certified Podcast, Garnett praised Suns stars Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and Kevin Durant for their MVP potential.
“Devin Booker can be an MVP, you know what I’m saying? Beal, he can be an MVP. These guys, they got it bro. And you got KD,” Garnett said.
Pierce expressed concerns about the team’s age, and noted that Durant is turning 36 and Beal is 31, stating, “I think these young teams are a problem,” hinting at the difficulties an older roster might face.
While the Suns have a trio of top-tier talent, Horry and Pierce remain cautious about their prospects, especially in a Western Conference loaded with young, competitive teams.
As the season nears, the debate continues over whether Phoenix can live up to Garnett‘s prediction or fall short, as Horry and Pierce suggest.
