Things could get interesting in Los Angeles and not for the better, as the new head coach of the Chargers could see another suspension soon, even if the NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has not spoke on the matter that looms around Jim Harbaugh.
The latest suspension imposed to Harbaugh by the NCAA is a four-year show-cause and a one-year suspension if he returns to college football, and all this because he allegedly broke several recruiting rules during the Covid-19 dead period and engaged in unethical conduct.
A committee of the NCAA “determined Jim Harbaugh violated recruiting and inducement rules, engaged in unethical conduct, failed to promote an atmosphere of compliance and violated head coach responsibility obligations,” and now people are in serious concerned if this could impact his work in Los Angeles.
He could be suspended by the NFL
While Roger Goodell has yet to say anything on the matter, there is uncertainty on what a punishment by the NFL could look like, if there is any coming. Jim Harbaugh’s lawyer, Tom Mars, downplayed the NCAA’s ruling by saying “The way I see it, from Coach Harbaugh’s perspective, today’s COI decision is like being in college and getting a letter from your high school saying you’ve been suspended because you didn’t sign the yearbook.”
This decision and comments from earlier in the week have had many thinking if in fact the NCAA did little harm on his career, and he could be a person that now received some negative action from the NFL in his return to the league.
While to many it is normal that commissioner Goodell has not talked about the matter because it was on college football, it is still a situation that could occur if the league finds it harmful to players and the game and the major authority in the sport’s silence is not helping.
