Russell Westbrook got his revenge on LeBron James and Celtics announcers pour gasoline on the fire

The controversies are not over for LeBron James. Although the Los Angeles Lakers star decided to take a break from social media, the Boston Celtics commentators decided to take advantage of the “King’s” hiatus to mock him after his team’s most recent loss to the Denver Nuggets.

There is a long history between James and announcers Brian Scalabrine and Drew Carter. The most recent chapter of the feud occurred during Boston’s tour of the United Arab Emirates, where the commentators revived the old conspiracy theory that James was the cause of Russell Westbrook’s departure from the Lakers.

The “King” did not remain silent and responded, “Took a trip all the way to Abu Dhabi to be on my… Eat some breakfast first! Anyways Brodie a LEGEND.” Later, Scalabrine and Carter acknowledged that Westbrook’s departure was more due to pressure from the media than James’ demand, but that was not, by far, the end of the feud.

Throwing shade at LeBron

On Saturday, Los Angeles suffered a heartbreaking 127-102 defeat against Denver, with Westbrook contributing 14 points, 11 assists, and seven rebounds. Scalabrine and Carter did not miss the opportunity to rub “Brodie’s” departure in the Lakers’ faces again.

“Oh by the way, did you see Russell Westbrook killing the Lakers yesterday?” asked Scalabrine in their next broadcast. “You know what? LeBron’s off Twitter so we can go down that route, it’s okay,” Carter replied, implying that there was no danger of James responding.

Finally, Scalabrine noted, “That was what we wanted to see, Westbrook getting his revenge.” If the game footage doesn’t lie, Russell himself seemed to enjoy his performance against his former team.

Westbrook’s return to Los Angeles

Saturday was Westbrook’s first game in Los Angeles since his departure from the team at the end of the 2023-2024 season. Although many analysts agree that his time with the Lakers was a low point in his career and the reason for his departure, the point guard seemed motivated by his return to Crypto.com Arena.

After hitting the triple that practically sealed the victory for the Nuggets with four minutes left on the clock, Westbrook apparently yelled to the crowd, “Boom, bitch!” There may not be bad blood between Russell and LeBron, but “The Brodie’s” relationship with the team is certainly not the best.
