As Super Bowl LIX approaches, NFL stars and fans alike are gearing up for the showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles and mong the spectators in New Orleans is former Super Bowl-winning quarterback Russell Wilson, but who does he back?
Wilson, who claimed a solitary ring with the Seattle Seahawks in 2014, has made his way to the big game to show support for one team in particular. But with his own future up in the air, the question remains: Patrick Mahomes or Jalen Hurts?
The Chiefs boast a roster full of talent such as Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Chris Jones in their quests for a three-peat on February 9, whilst in the other corner is Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley and AJ Brown.

And it turns out Wilson is backing the Chiefs to go all the way, particularly through his connection to Kisha Brown, the mother of Chiefs’ safety Nazeeh Johnson, proving his affinity to the team runs deeper than just a love for the game.
Kisha was seen revelling in her son’s third back-to-back Super Bowl appearance, and the QB can be spotted sharing her excitement with the crowd as she added a caption, “Russell Wilson in the house for the Super Bowl!!”
Wilson’s NFL future on the ropes
While Wilson is firmly in the spotlight for this year’s Super Bowl, his own future in the NFL remains uncertain after a tough season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, which ended with five consecutive losses and a playoff exit.
Wilson hasn’t been offered an extension and the Steelers‘ disappointment has led them to look elsewhere, leaving Wilson in search of a new team. So where could the 36-year-old play caller end up?
One potential landing spot is with the Las Vegas Raiders, who are in desperate need of a quality quarterback. With Tom Brady at the helm, they know what kind of profile they’re looking for and Wilson offers quality and experience.
Whilst another team keeping an eye on Wilson is the New York Giants. Sports reporter Ralph Vacchiano noted how he could be a key asset to the Giants, even if he isn’t expected to lead them to a title immediately.
“Wilson isn’t going to lead New York on a title run, but he could at least help the club be competitive,” Vacchiano stated. “It might even be enough to save [head coach Brian] Daboll and [GM Joe] Schoen from being fired.”
