Saquon Barkley’s number one fan shared a heartfelt message on Sunday after the star running back’s big game for the Philadelphia Eagles, The Post reported.
In her Instagram stories, Anna Congdon wrote a heartfelt post for her longtime partner, who became the ninth running back in NFL history to surpass 2,000 rushing yards in a season during the home victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
“You eclipse the morning sun,” Congdon wrote, referring to Barkley.
In a follow-up post, Congdon, who has been dating Barkley since their college days at Penn State and shares two children, uploaded an NFL graphic featuring an animation of the two-time Pro Bowler jumping over letters that mean 2,000 yards.
Barkley goes for Eric Dickerson’s record
Barkley surpassed the 2,000-yard mark in the fourth quarter on Sunday with a 23-yard run, and finished the Week 17 game with 31 carries for 167 yards and is now 100 yards shy of Eric Dickerson’s record of 2,105, which he set while playing for the Los Angeles Rams in 1984.
With one game remaining, the Eagles, who clinched the NFC East title on Sunday, will have to decide whether to play their starters in the final regular-season game against the New York Giants or rest them before the playoffs.
Barkley, currently in his first season in Philadelphia, is willing to accept whatever coach Nick Sirianni decides.
“Whatever his decision is, I’m totally for it,” Barkley said. “If his mindset is to go out and chase the record, we’re going to go out and try to do it. If his mindset is, let’s rest and get ready for the playoffs, I’ll fully support him in that as well.”
Barkley spent the first six seasons of his career with the Giants, who selected him as the second overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
The MVP candidate joined Big Blue’s hated rival in free agency last March, agreeing to a three-year, $37.75 million contract.
Barkley has scored 13 rushing touchdowns in 16 games this year, plus two receiving touchdowns.
