Shaquille O’Neal admits he wants to see Stephen A. Smith run for U.S. president

Shaquille O’Neal is quite a character when it comes to making statements, outside of the NBA he has adapted perfectly to television and has shown a lot of charisma in front of the cameras.

His ability to connect with the audience is a gem, his sense of humor is untouchable and when he has to get serious in his role as an analyst, he does it perfectly. His presence is remarkable at 6’7″ and that makes him unique.

Well, now he’s come out with an unpopular opinion that has generated a lot of laughs and months on social media.

Shaq is giving the green light for Stephen A. Smith to run for president

Since the U.S. Constitution limits presidents to two terms, Donald Trump will not be able to run in 2028. This opens up the possibility of a new candidate taking office, and one of the names being considered is Stephen A. Smith, who is emerging as an option for the Democratic Party.

According to the probabilities, Smith ranks fourth among possible Democratic candidates in 2028, behind Josh Shapiro (governor of Pennsylvania), Wes Moore (governor of Maryland), and Gavin Newsom (governor of California).

Figures like Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump have shown that a celebrity can become president if they can connect with the American people through an effective campaign.

Shaq spoke on his podcast, “The Big Podcast with Shaq,” where the Hall of Famer explained why he thinks it would be a great idea to see the journalist as a presidential candidate.

“No, I would never run for president of the United States. Smith would give an excellent speech with the profanity he uses. Oh, he’d win a debate on CNN because he’d attack his opponent with an expletive,” the four-time NBA champion laughed.

He even suggested someone else as his running mate:

“It would be fun, and you know who his vice president would be? Chad Ochocinco… they’d probably win, too,” Shaq said on his podcast.

For his part, Stephen A. Smith declares himself “independent” every time he talks about politics, so we’ll see if Shaq‘s crazy idea gains traction over time, but the journalist just renewed his contract with ESPN, so it would only remain a fantasy theory of the NBA legend. But boy, would it be fun to imagine such a scenario.
