Simone Biles’ husband learned of the struggles of his wife

Simone Biles‘ husband says he understands her struggles and need for connection with him following a challenging few years for the legendary gymnast, after she withdrew from the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games after suffering from the twisties.

The 27-year-old backed out of the Games, held in 2021 due to Covid-19, after losing her sense of air awareness as she began to struggle with mental health and the expectations placed on her by fans of Team USA.

Regarded as the finest gymnast of all-time, she had won 30 medals (27 golds) prior to the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan and had a series of unique moves named after her as she continued to forge an unmatchable legacy.

But with fame comes pressure and expectation and as a woman in her early 20s, she suffered rare and costly errors and said she was “[feeling] the weight of the world on [her] shoulders,” before going on to withdraw from the team entirely to protect her life too.

And Jonathan Owens, who plays professional football for the Chicago Bears, revealed he understands the toll of public pressure in the documentary based on her incredible career and renaissance.

“You want to be the most human you can be with each other,” Owens told the Simone Biles Rising documentary. “Because it’s hard being in the public eye.”

When does Simone Biles Rising Part 2 release?

Owens has publicly began to support Biles more after he was criticized by her fans for both considering himself the catch of their marriage, as well as admitting he didn’t know who she was before she met.

That included an appearance at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris as Biles went on to win three more gold medals and one more silver to add to her incredible career as she moved up to ninth on the list of most medals won by individual females.

There, he was spotted giving her supportive messages as well as celebrating with her after she claimed gold medal wins, even posing with one of the medals for a photo later posted to Instagram.

Part one of the Netflix production already released on July 17 whilst part two, following her success in Paris, has already has the trailer drop.

“It’s the epic conclusion of the ultimate comeback,” Netflix said on Instagram. “SIMONE BILES RISING Part 2, coming October 25.”
