Lionel Messi led Inter Miami to glory after defeating the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1 and giving the Florida club its first MLS Cup last weekend
Messi was instrumental in Inter Miami lifting the MLS Cup. The Argentine star won the MLS Golden Boot after leading the North American league with 29 goals and 19 assists in 28 games. Messi’s 48 goal contributions are the second most in MLS history, just one goal behind what Carlos Vela produced for LAFC in 2019
In addition, Messi was named MLS MVP for the second consecutive season, a milestone that had never been achieved in the history of the North American league
Son will do everything to dethrone Messi and win the MLS Cup
Korean Heung-Min Son is LAFC’s latest star signing. The striker excelled in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen and in the Premier League with Tottenham. Now, he wants to conquer MLS.
After LAFC’s elimination from the MLS playoffs by Thomas Muller’s Whitecaps, Son traveled to London to visit his former Tottenham teammates
During his visit, he met ‘Cuti’ Romero, World Cup champion with Argentina in Qatar 2022 alongside Messi, and both took the opportunity to talk about MLS.
Son took the time to joke with ‘Cuti’ about Messi’s victory in the MLS Cup and commented in a video published by the London club: “I let Leo Messi win the MLS title, but in 2026 LAFC will be on top.”
They will not have an easy time winning the MLS next season
Messi’s reflection after conquering the MLS
there is no bigger sports star than Leo in the hot Florida city.Messi gave an emotional reflection on his time in Concacaf soccer.“Three years ago, I decided to come to MLS, and today we are MLS champions. We reached the semifinals of the (Concacaf) Champions Cup.
Last year, we were out early in the league and were eliminated in the first round. This year, winning the MLS was one of our main goals,” Messi explained.
