Sydel Curry Lee, sister of NBA star Steph Curry and wife of Phoenix Suns player Damion Lee, has taken to social media to encourage Americans to vote for Kamala Harris in the fast-approaching presidential election.
In a video shared on Instagram, Sydel expressed her belief in the importance of personal healthcare choice, an issue she feels is a central strength of Harris‘ platform.
“This Presidential election is so important,” she said.
“For AUTONOMY. For families, like my own, who need options to grow their own families. To live out their dreams. We need to protect our right to decide our own medical care and vote for Kamala Harris. It is serious and the time is now! Vote!”
Harris, running as the Democratic candidate after president Joe Biden stepped down from re-election plans, has prioritized bodily autonomy and affordable healthcare, which her supporters see as a contrast to the approach of former president Donald Trump, her opponent.
As the election draws near, both candidates are working tirelessly to sway voters in a closely contested race.
While Harris focuses on her healthcare vision, Trump, who held office as the 45th U.S. president from 2017 to 2021, is campaigning to return to the presidency.
Curry supports Harris too
Curry Lee isn’t the only member of the Curry family throwing support behind Harris in the upcoming presidential race; her older brother, NBA star Steph Curry, has also voiced his backing of the vice-president.
Steph believes that Harris has the leadership qualities needed to bring unity to the nation and guide it toward progress.
Fresh off his gold-medal win with Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Curry publicly endorsed Harris at the Democratic National Convention in August.
“Together we can do great things and continue to inspire the world,” he said.
“That is why I believe that Kamala as president could bring that unity back and continue to move our country forward… The Oval Office would suit her well. In the words of Michelle Obama, do something. Go vote. Be active, Let’s show it in November like never before.”
