Beyond the clash of the National and American Conference champions, Super Bowl LIX is one of the most anticipated events of the year, and one of the most attention-grabbing moments is the Halftime Show.

For this occasion, Kendrick Lamar will be the headline act for the Super Bowl LIX halftime show, which will take place on February 9, 2025 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans

This will be his second Super Bowl halftime show, after his participation in Super Bowl LVI alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige and Eminem in 2022.

Kendrick Lamar is an American rapper, songwriter and producer, considered one of the most influential artists of his generation.

While Lamar has yet to announce any special collaborators for the halftime show, it is expected that the artist will invite other colleagues to share the stage

Possible names include SZA (for their work together on All the Stars), Baby Keem (his cousin and frequent collaborator), and Dr. Dre or Snoop Dogg, with whom he shared the stage at Super Bowl LVI.

Recent artists from the hip-hop scene, such as Tyler, the Creator or Roddy Ricch, who have worked with him at other recent events, could also appear.

Normally, halftime of an NFL game lasts between 12 and 15 minutes. However, the halftime period in the Super Bowl is much longer, to allow for a show (in this case a mini concert), which takes 20 to 30 minutes.

Although the shows do not last more than 15 minutes, the rest of the time is spent setting up and taking down the stages.

The show cannot take longer, as the players begin to cool down their bodies and, in addition to losing their rhythm of play, they would increase the propensity to suffer an injury in the most important match of the season.

According to information from CBS News, the singers have a union contract under which they have a guaranteed minimum salary for their performance at the Super Bowl. For example, in early 2024 it was revealed that Usher received around $1,000 per day for his performance at Super Bowl LVIII.

This is why is often said that artist have performed for free, although they have other benefits, as their show goes around the world and receives media impact that could cost millions in advertising and promotion.
