Even from the get-go, something seemed off about Super Bowl LIX for the Kansas City Chiefs. A raucous crowd filled with an overwhelming amount of Philadelphia Eagles fans booed Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and other Chiefs players as they came out to warm up an hour or so before the game began. It all went downhill from there.
The Chiefs offensive line couldn’t handle Philadelphia’s relentless pass-rush, forcing Mahomes into scramble mode way more often than he’s used to. The offense couldn’t sustain drives, and Mahomes was picked off twice in the first half to boot. Mahomes didn’t get any help from his offensive counterparts, as the only one who really did anything was rookie Xavier Worthy, with most of his production coming late in the game.

Meanwhile, Kelce didn’t look like his usual self. He had a poor early drop that ended up setting the tone for the offense’s night, and he couldn’t impact the game in any capacity, ultimately finishing with four catches for 39 yards.
More than anything, Kelce looked slower than he ever has, which has prompted speculation about his future. But as for his Super Bowl performance, fans need someone to blame aside from Kelce’s age. So the two main culprits are, obviously, Taylor Swift and… Donald Trump?
Kelce’s mind likely wasn’t on a potential proposal to Swift if the Chiefs ended up winning the game, but he was asked about it several times throughout the week, so it may have been on his mind after all.
When zooming out, Kelce’s performance was way down the list of things that went wrong for the Chiefs. They were simply outmatched from a talent standpoint, with their biggest flaws being exposed by a great team in the Eagles.
