It comes with the territory of being so successful, but Swift has kept a clean record for her part, making it difficult for media personalities to find faults and exploit them for views.

There is one thing that perhaps stands out about Swift, although it’s an aspect of her life that isn’t fully fleshed out. Swift has made it a theme in her music to talk about past boyfriends and relationships, which has made some believe she dates around a lot. In reality, she hasn’t had that many partners in recent times, and was dating Joe Alwyn for around seven years before Travis Kelce. But that doesn’t stop talking heads from making jokes.

That’s what Bill Maher did on his show over the weekend, monologuing that President Donald Trump took “three weeks to break up with Ukraine and Mexico, and Canada“, but Swift has been able to date Kelce for over a year.

It’s a harmless joke, but one that may not actually be based on truths. It’s possible Swift uses relationships from way back for a lot of her songs. She may even draw inspiration from relationships that weren’t hers. After all, whatever she’s doing is working, because her albums continue to sell like hotcakes.

Kelce, meanwhile, is still getting used to the newfound media attention. He isn’t totally new to it, as he’s been one of the best players in the NFL for over a decade, and his podcast made him an Internet sensation even before Swift came into his life. But he likely wouldn’t have gotten a call-out from Maher were it not for Swift.
