As Taylor Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour comes to a close, fans are buzzing with speculation that the pop superstar is filming a second concert movie.
After months of anticipation and dedicated fan efforts to secure tickets, Swift’s tour, which has spanned five continents and over 50 cities, is concluding with three final shows in Vancouver, Canada.
Swifties hoping for Eras Tour Movie part 2
During the opening night in Vancouver on December 6, fans noticed something unusual: Swift was accompanied by a two-man camera crew, filming her every move as she performed.
The cameras followed her across the stage, capturing different angles of her performance.
Observant fans pointed out that the camera track on stage was longer than usual, suggesting that more footage was being recorded than at previous stops.
Given that Swift filmed much of the original Eras Tour movie during her Los Angeles shows in 2023, it’s no surprise that fans are eager to connect the dots.
“There’s a reason why this is my longest tour I’ve ever done. I’ve never played this many shows on a tour before, and it’s just cause I really never wanted it to end,” Swift remarked during her second night in Vancouver.
“You guys have made it into such a wonderful experience for all of us on stage.”
Fans took to social media, eagerly theorizing that Swift might be filming a sequel to the original concert film.
“I hope she releases the Eras movie part two. I’d happily spend my money on that,” one fan wrote on X.
Others suggested that the new footage could include updated setlists and performances from the recently released The Tortured Poets Department album, which made its debut earlier this year.
Taylor Swift thanks fans in Eras Tour finale
The pop star took time during her second show in Vancouver to thank fans for making the tour a record-breaking phenomenon.
“This is the most fun, joyful, exciting, intense, powerful and wonderful tour I have ever done, and that’s all because of the way that you have treated it,”Swift said.
“There’s a reason why this is my longest tour I’ve ever done. I’ve never played this many shows on a tour before, and it’s just cause I really never wanted it to end, because you guys have made it into such a wonderful experience for all of us on stage,” she continued.
“You’ve got all your traditions that you’ve created. Like, I wrote one line in a song that mentions ‘make the friendship bracelets,’ and I show up to the first show of the Eras Tour, and you guys made friendship bracelets, your trading friendship bracelets, you’re making friends, and now, I feel like, friendship bracelets, you’ve kinda made that idea synonymous with the Eras Tour. That’s a pretty wild thing you can do – and that’s just one of the things,” she added.
The Eras Tour kicked off on March 17 of 2023 in Glendale, Arizona, and has grossed over $1.04 billion, making it the highest-grossing tour in history.
As Swift’s Eras Tour wraps up in Vancouver tonight, only time will tell if her fans’ theories come to fruition.
