In the run-up to its 50th annual season, the Texas Renaissance Festival is ramping up its philanthropic efforts with a series of charity events. As a staple benefactor in its community, the festival is seizing this landmark year to enhance its contributions to local causes, reflecting its gratitude towards the community that has been its backbone for decades.
“With our 50th anniversary around the corner, we’ve had plenty of time to reflect on the growth we’ve had and the memories we’ve made,” said Kolton Ammerman, Marketing Director for the Texas Renaissance Festival. “So many local organizations and individuals have embraced TRF and enabled it to grow into a place of merriment and magic, where people can don their favorite garb and forget the worries of the everyday. The Texas Renaissance Festival would not be what it is today without the support and patronage of the surrounding communities, and to thank those communities, we want to give back.”
Here’s a sneak peek at the charity events the Texas Renaissance Festival has lined up for this spring and summer:
- On March 23rd, the festival will lend its support to the MS Walk: The Woodlands by sponsoring the event and forming a team, the TexRenFest Striders, to fundraise for the National MS Society. Participants are welcome to join or make a donation through the TexRenFest Striders’ fundraising page.
- The festival’s headquarters at 21778 Farm to Market 1774, Todd Mission, TX, will be the site of a life-saving blood drive on April 6th. The event, in collaboration with the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, welcomes community members to contribute by donating blood.
- A special event on July 9th will feature the Festival’s King engaging young minds at the Tomball Children’s Library with captivating stories to foster a love for reading.
- In August, details of which will be provided later, the festival teams up with Haak Wines for a food drive benefiting the Galveston County Food Bank. Food contributions will be collected throughout Galveston during the day, culminating in a festive gathering at the winery.
Situated an hour north of Houston, the Texas Renaissance Festival is recognized as the largest of its kind in the U.S., attracting over half a million visitors annually to revel in its vast array of Renaissance-themed entertainment, cuisine, and activities. The 50th anniversary festivities are slated for eight themed weekends, spanning from October 12 to December 1, 2024, including a special day on Thanksgiving Friday.
