The Kansas City Chiefs endured a rocky season that left their fans deeply saddened. They had grown accustomed to consistently contending for championships, but injuries and suspensions dragged the team into mediocrity.
They also suffered another direct blow to the heart. Clark Hunt, the team’s owner, announced that the franchise would be relocating, leaving behind countless memorable moments at Arrowhead Stadium.
The new location where construction will begin on the Chiefs’ future home carries a price tag of $3 billion and will be built in Kansas, leaving Missouri behind. The new venue will be filled with luxury and modern features, although fans did not welcome the decision.
Clark Hunt is labeled as greedy
An Instagram account shared an image of Arrowhead Stadium in the 1990s, prompting many to revisit those moments with deep nostalgia, knowing they will soon become memories.
The news that the Chiefs will depart from the place that has been their home for so long left supporters stunned. Many reactions from fans quickly emerged, with several labeling owner Clark Hunt as greedy.
That sentiment intensified after it was revealed that the Kansas Legislative Coordinating Council approved a STAR bond plan that will cover 60 percent of the construction costs for the new stadium and its surrounding complex, valued at $3 billion.
The remaining 40 percent will be covered by Hunt. A proposal to use alcohol sales taxes generated within the venue to repay the bonds had previously been rejected by residents of that district.
Wyandotte, Kansas, will host the new stadium, while team offices will be located in Olathe, Johnson County. This forms part of the franchise owner’s long-term strategy.
In the 60-plus years of this franchise, we have called three stadiums ‘home.”…”We have brought home a championship to every single one. We’re not done winning championships at Arrowhead. We’re going to cherish the next five seasons playing there. For generations to come, Chiefs fans will have the best game day experience in the entire NFL. Our children and grandchildren will have a place for their own unforgettable moments.

Clark Hunt said in a statement in December last year.
While progress and modernization are inevitable, including new structures and technological adaptation, this decision has been a heavy blow for Chiefs fans, who have spent more than five decades in that stadium.
Memories will now be treasured as the team prepares to leave a venue that has witnessed great teams and players who led them to championships and years of dominance, as well as difficult moments.
S-cks the ownership is fleeing this tradition and atmosphere for a failed modernized cookie-cutter stadium. All due to corporate greed!
One fan wrote under the Chiefs’ post, while another added.
And you’re building a soulless dome to replace this. Good work, Clark.
Frustration has been evident across the fanbase, and for good reason. A significant part of their heart is being taken away.
