This past Sunday brought us one of the more important and dramatic games of the 2024 NFL season. In a rivalry game that has been fueled by endless trash-talking, particularly from one side, the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in stunning fashion. A defensive pass interference call with the game on the line drew the headlines, as many fans continue to believe Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and co. are favored by the league.
But before all of that drama even transpired, the Bengals appeared to be heated throughout the game. No one was more heated than Ja’Marr Chase. In the 4th quarter, Chase lashed out at an official and had to be held back by Joe Burrow and more teammates. He was flagged, unsurprisingly, and now we know it will cost him even more.

The league came down hard on Chase in the post-week fines, hitting him with a $31,599 bill for “abusive language” toward the referee in question. Considering Chase was holding out for a big contract and didn’t get it before this season, that fine will hurt just a bit more.
NFL has handed out fines for hip-drop tackles that Chase complained about
Chase was extremely upset because he believed he was unfairly “hip-drop” tackled by Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie. The NFL has essentially banned that type of tackle.
Despite the emphasis on the removal of that specific tackle, it has yet to be officially penalized during a game. The league did fine several players for it once the games ended, but McDuffie walked away unscathed.
