The History Channel’s New Docuseries Lineup

Curious about the upcoming presentations? Here’s a breakdown of each, courtesy of Deadline:

History’s Strange Fortunes with Kevin Bacon “is a ten-part series that features stories about money – money made, money lost, and money spent. From a famous rock-and-roll singer who spent $50,000 on a late-night snack, to a lucky gold miner who unearthed a nugget worth nearly $1 million, to an epic heist that turned a circus hypnotist into an infamous con artist, the series explores some of the most unbelievable, yet true financial tales ever recorded.”

Extraordinary Origins with Ted Danson “examines the stories behind some of history’s most significant innovations, inventions, and discoveries that helped shape the modern world.”

Crime and Justice with Tom Selleck “sees the Blue Bloods star examine the true stories behind some of the most consequential crimes and investigations in American history from the dusty streets of the Old West to the high-tech manhunts of today.” Crime and Justice with Tom Selleck is a ten-part series.

History’s Greatest Machines with Dolph Lundgren “sees the Rocky IV star, who has a background in chemical engineering, look at the gears, guts, and genius behind the machines that reshaped our world.” History’s Greatest Machines with Dolph Lundgren is an eight-part series.

Lastly, Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts is executive producing 102 Minutes Inside the Tower, a two-hour documentary spotlighting the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

Pick Your Poison

It’s been ages since I’ve hunkered down for a solid docuseries, and this lineup is speaking to me. Of the ones announced, I think Extraordinary Origins with Ted Danson and History’s Greatest Machines with Dolph Lundgren appeal to me the most. For my money, Danson grows more swaggy by the hour (have you seen A Man on the Inside?), and Lundgren is a titan of my youth, having starred in Rocky IV and Masters of the Universe. I’m down to check out some of these docuseries. How about you? Let us know in the comments section below.
