Anthony Edwards, who many have long compared to Michael Jordan because of his style of play, his way of overcoming opponents and his decisive way of attacking the rim, has become at the age of 23 one of the most media-savvy players in the NBA.
The Minnesota Timberwolves star, fifth in the West (45-32), shone again in his team’s victory on the Brooklyn Nets’ court (90-105) with 28 points (5/10 three-pointers), five rebounds and three assists. This season, he is averaging 27.3 points (fourth leading scorer in the NBA), 5.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists.
Has no chill! Anthony Edwards talks trash to Kevin Durant after beating the former MVP’s team
However, this campaign is making more headlines for his life off the court than for his undeniable talent on it. And all because in the last two years he has had four children with four different women, a family ‘quadruple-double’ that is difficult to see in real life, and even less so by a 23-year-old.
Three daughters, one son, DNA tests and pensions
According to several reports in the US press, Edwards’ first daughter, Aris Ariel Carlyle, was born in September 2023 to Daja Carlyle. Daja went public with the news with an emotional post that included a photo of the newborn and revealed that Anthony was present during the birth.
Subsequent court documents showed that Edwards sought legitimation and custody, acknowledging Aris as his daughter, but questioning how custody and support should be shared. In September 2024, Edwards indicated that he was paying $5,000 a month in temporary support, but later requested that it be adjusted to $3,222 a month. Eventually, both parties reached an agreement.
Just one month after Aris’ birth, another woman named Ally D claimed that Edwards was the father of her child, Amir, born in October 2023. She posted alleged screenshots of messages with Edwards and a censored DNA test that claimed to confirm his paternity. Edwards has never publicly acknowledged or denied paternity of this child, and the situation remains largely private, except for Ally’s posts on social media.
A daughter with her lifelong girlfriend
In March 2024, Edwards and his longtime girlfriend, Shannon Jackson, welcomed a daughter named Aislynn. Shannon announced her pregnancy in late 2023, and the birth of their daughter was one of the few that Edwards has publicly addressed.
Most recently, the Wolves star made headlines again when it was revealed that he had filed a paternity suit against a woman named Ayesha Howard, who gave birth to a daughter named Aubri in October 2024. Edwards requested a DNA test before the birth and requested official paternity, should the test be positive.
He also requested that child support be determined under Georgia’s guidelines, where he claimed Ayesha was residing. However, Ayesha filed her own lawsuit in California, claiming she moved there before giving birth. The legal battle took a turn in February 2025 when a judge ruled that California did not have jurisdiction over the child support matter, sending the case back to Georgia.
It should be noted that Edwards stated in the lawsuit that he was not seeking custody or visitation rights with Aubri. A custody hearing was scheduled for March 20, 2025, to determine how the case would proceed.
His messages to a woman to have an abortion
In December 2023, he was also embroiled in another gruesome case of a similar nature when messages came to light that he sent to a model in which he asked her to have an abortion. “Hell no, I can’t do it,” “I don’t want kids” or “get an abortion hahaha,” were some of the phrases written by the player, who also allegedly made the woman a $100,000 transfer to carry out the procedure.
Damn, I can’t do it… I don’t want kids… have an abortion hahaha

Edwards later had to apologise: “I made comments in the heat of a moment and that do not align with what I believe and what I want to be as a man. All women should be supported and empowered to make their own decisions about their bodies and what is best for them.”

The fact is that the personal life of this player is giving almost more to talk about in the United States than his exploits on the court. It remains to be seen to what extent all these paternity cases can affect his splendid NBA career and how he will deal with them at the age of just 23. Time will tell.
