The interaction between Jessica Pegula’s boyfriend and Stephen Curry at the US Open Final

Jessica Pegula‘s loss in the final of the 2024 US Open has attracted all of the headlines from the Arthur Ashe Stadium, meaning fans missed an interesting interaction between the tennis star’s boyfriend and the NBA legend, Steph Curry.

Pegula gave a very valiant effort on September 7 to push Aryna Sabalenka to the limit but was ultimately defeated 7-5, 7-5 allowing the world number two to claim her latest prize after winning the 2023 and 2024 Australian Opens.

Steph Curry’s fan was breathless upon seeing him in person

And the United States really had turned out to back their athlete, the world number six, including the Golden State Warriors‘ Curry, and his wife Ayesha, who previously met her during the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

As they chose to sit close to the baseline to chat with Pegula pre-game, her boyfriend found himself enamored with the wrong person as he was completely swept up by the four-time NBA champions’ presence.

Taylor Gahagan, who married the 26-year-old in 2021, is a huge fan of the NBA and of Curry and was rather flustered finally getting to meet the legendary three-point shooter and Pegula revealed they wondered if he came across as crazy.

“My husband, his iPhone name is Steph Curry, because he loves Steph Curry,” Pegula said, according to the Associated Press. “If you connect to Bluetooth or send him something or AirDrop, it’s ‘Steph Curry’s iPhone.’

“So I kind of left early and he texted me and he was so excited. He didn’t want to say anything. I was like, ‘Please tell me you did not tell him about the iPhone thing,’ and he’s like, ‘Oh, yeah, I did.’

“I thought that was really cute. He was like, ‘No, he loved it.’ I was like, ‘Did he? Or did he really think you were kind of crazy?’ I guess he thought it was pretty funny.”

Who is in the final of the 2024 US Open men’s singles?

Jannik Sinner will take on Taylor Fritz in the final of the 2024 US Open men’s singles after both battled through tough contests at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in the semifinals.

Sinner, the world number one, was hard pushed by Britain’s Jack Draper but turned out to have the extra mental fortitude and physical conditioning to play one extra shot as he won 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) and 6-2 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

As a result, he will face Fritz after the world number 12 emerged triumphant in his all-American clash with Frances Tiafoe, winning 4-6, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 and 6-1 in five sets.

The 2024 US Open men’s singles final is expected to begin at 14:00 ET/11:00 PT.
