Los Angeles Lakers suffered a tough and resounding 134-93 defeat to the Miami Heat in a visit to Miami that should serve as a turning point for the purple and gold, especially after the harsh statements of their coach JJ Redick.
I’m embarrassed. We are all embarrassed
JJ Redick
“I’m embarrassed. We’re all embarrassed. It wasn’t a game where I think we had the right fight, the right professionalism,” JJ Redick said after losing by 41 points.
“I’m responsible for this. I don’t feel like we’re together at the moment,” said the Lakers coach (12-10), whose team has won just two of its last eight games and in its last game sealed its lowest scoring (80 points) since 2017.
Magic Johnson: “I’m embarrassed for the Lakers”
Magic Johnson, the legendary Lakers player, was very harsh on X (Twitter) after the debacle in Miami: “I feel embarrassed for the Lakers.”
LeBron James, seventh best three-point shooter in NBA history, could not rescue the Lakers in Miami
Against the Heat, the Los Angeles team shot a poor 5-of-22 from three-point range (25-of-70 from the field) compared to the Heat’s spectacular 24-of-47 (10-10).
LeBron James, who was on his game with 29 points and eight assists and surpassed Kyle Korver as the seventh-highest three-point shooter in NBA history with 2,451 three-pointers made, was left very much alone against the Heat.
The poor performance of Anthony Davis (eight points on 3-of-14 shooting) was a drag on the Angelenos.
Tyler Herro, who scored 21 points in the third quarter, was the Lakers’ executioner with 31 points and 9 of 16 on three-pointers.
