The misfortune of Ja Morant: a period of three years gone to waste

The Memphis Grizzlies have announced that Ja Morant, their great star and franchise player, will miss the rest of the season due to a sprain of the ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow. The 26-year-old has played just 20 games this season, averaging 19.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 8.1 assists. The Grizzlies report that Ja Morant recently consulted on how to treat the lingering soreness in his elbow. He was advised to have a platelet-rich plasma injection to optimize ligament recovery. It is expected to be ready for the start of the 2026-27 season.

Ja Morant has only played 79 games in the last three seasons

Ja Morant, who has two seasons remaining on his contract worth 87 million euros, has played just 79 games over the last three seasons due to multiple suspensions and various injuries.

In the transfer market, Ja Morant was involved in numerous trades, but the No. 2 pick in the 2019 Draft ended up staying in Memphis.

Ja Morant suffered the elbow injury on January 21, in the second game he played after his return after two weeks out with a calf strain.
