Tyreek Hill had become one of the standout players for the Miami Dolphins since his arrival, although many fans of the franchise did not share that opinion and were pleased with the receiver’s release.
One of them was the police officer who arrested him in 2024, Danny Torres, a member of the Miami-Dade County force, who handcuffed him outside Hard Rock Stadium in September of that year.
What retired officer Danny Torres said about Tyreek Hill’s release
Torres retired in July 2025, and with the news coming from the Dolphins’ offices, he did not hold back in expressing his feelings about the receiver’s release and his opinion of him.
Hmmm… I guess it took a bit, but Karma got you. Now that I am retired I can tell you how I feel about you”…”You’re an entitled A-SHOLE and an embarrassment to the team and city that kissed your a-s. I wish you the best and hope you are able to afford ALL that child support, especially now that you’re unemployed. But I’m sure someone will pick you up and you will cause havoc in their team and city. Just how you did in Miami.

Torres reportedly wrote.
But that was not all, as he also sent a text message to the Miami New Times in which he expressed that he was
(being) “Pretty much crucified for doing my job.

And that he fully supported what he had posted on Facebook.
The events of Tyreek Hill’s arrest
Everything happened on the opening day of the 2024 season, on September 8. Officer Torres asked him to pull over because he was allegedly speeding. Once stopped, the player was removed from his vehicle and handcuffed on the ground by the officers.
There were a total of four motorcycle officers involved, who were seen struggling with the receiver before placing him in custody. An investigation later followed, which included body camera footage, and the decision was made to place Officer Torres on administrative suspension.
What happened afterward led to the citations against the receiver being dropped, as the officers involved never appeared at a hearing.
