Travis Kelce hasn’t managed to get back on stage at the Eras Tour after his stunning cameo at Wembley in London in June, but why has the Kansas City Chiefs star failed to reappear despite Taylor Swift desiring it?
The 35-year-old NFL tight end appeared on stage in a top hat and tuxedo and carried his girlfriend to change costumes in the show, which goes through the history of her albums and journey from aspiring country singer to billionaire pop star.
But due to the commitments he has with Patrick Mahomes and the Arrowhead Stadium, he hasn’t been able to don that tux and head back out onto the stage to star alongside the love of his life, although he “talks about it every day” according to The US Sun.
“There were some suggestions made by Eras production and the team to have Travis on stage again,” a source told the outlet. “Do a gig and show up as a surprise during a concert for the last part of her tour.
“But after talking with Taylor, they agreed that it wouldn’t have been a good idea. As the season is still on, he has to focus on that as he is a football player above all.
“He is targeting another Super Bowl, so they agreed that it would have been a bad idea to have him on stage again.”
When may he have performed?
Swift had wanted him on stage at her shows in Indianapolis as she performed at the Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the NFL’s Colts franchise, from November 1-3 with Gracie Adams as the supporting act.
That chance seems to have passed now with the 34-year-old performing in Toronto and Vancouver whilst the football season continues on for Kelce as he prepares to take on the Buffalo Bills on November 17.
Considering the context of the injuries to the Chiefs and his own poor start to the season as he only made 69 receiving yards and the first three weeks and didn’t score a touchdown until October 27, it was probably a good decision to pass over the offer.
