The Sixers’ trio is cursed: Maxey also falls

The Sixers are cursed. Definitely. At no time during the season have they been able to count on their star trio: Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey. Let’s start with the latter, who will be out for a couple of weeks due to a right hamstring injury suffered in the last game against the Clippers.

Hawks fan caught in rare street fight with another man

Embiid has not played any games yet due to a knee injury he has been carrying since last season, although he was able to participate in the Games. His return is close, although first he will have to serve a three-game suspension for pushing a journalist who wrote an article he did not like because of personal allusions.

And Paul George, one of the big signings of the summer, could not start the season due to a hyperextension of his left knee. He has played the last two games and in Philadelphia they were already dreaming of being able to enjoy their ‘Big Three’. None of that.

The jinx on their stars continues and the team, meanwhile, remains adrift: they are bottom of the NBA with a 1-6 record, the same as the Bucks and the Jazz. Hard to swallow for those who were considered the best movers in the market.

Many movements in the market

In addition to the signing of coveted Paul George, they extended the contracts of Embiid (three more years and $193 million) and Tyrese Maxey (five years and $204 million), retained Kelly Oubre Jr. and Kyle Lowry and signed Caleb Martin, Eric Gordon, Andre Drummond and former Real Madrid player Guerschon Yabusele to complete the rotation.

Without Embiid and George, it was Maxey who was trying to pull the Sixers, although he did not always succeed. All the responsibility fell on the point guard, who is still only 23 years old. So far he had averages of 27.6 points, 3.9 assists and 1.4 steals.
