The stratospheric longevity record with which Curry surpasses Jordan and leaves LeBron far behind

There are two ways to understand longevity in the NBA. There are those players who manage to prolong their careers even though their impact is almost invisible, and others who manage to remain stars over time and continue to shine brightly. The latter group includes Stephen Curry.

The Warriors player scored 48 points with 12 three-pointers against the Trail Blazers in his team’s 131-136 loss. For Curry it was the 45th game in which he reached 40 points once he turned 30. And it was not just another game, it is the one that places him at the top of that classification, above Michael Jordan who achieved that figure on 44 occasions when he reached his thirties.

The achievement is huge: 45 games of 40 or more points at 30 or older. Obviously, it should be noted that Jordan was retired for several years with 30 already completed, that is, he could have achieved even more. But at this point, the leader is Curry and his 45 points only indicate that his longevity is pure gold for the Warriors.

In that list where Curry is the leader with 45 and Jordan second with 44, you have to go down to 31 games to find the third, who is not LeBron James, but Damian Lillard. In fact, LeBron, in case anyone was wondering, is not even in the top five. Fourth and fifth are James Harden and Kobe Bryant, both with 30 games. And Larry Bird is sixth with 27. LeBron appears in seventh place, with 25. The top 10 is rounded out by Alex English (25), Rick Barry (24) and Kevin Durant (21)

Curry’s 12 three-pointers against the Trail Blazers are also crazy and feed another stratospheric statistic for the Warriors player. Of the 112 performances by a player with 10 or more three-pointers in a game in NBA history, 25% (a total of 28) are by Stephen Curry, who despite getting older, never ceases to amaze
