Portugal is a star-studded team, probably in the top five of the best squads at national team level. However, Cristiano Ronaldo is the main attraction for the match against the Mexican national team. Having the presence of the top scorer in the reopening of the emblematic stadium was a dream for Mexican fans and the leaders of the FMF. A dream that continues to be in doubt due to CR7’s injury
Cristiano called up for Portugal vs Mexico
But then came the problem of Cristiano, who was injured in an Al Nassr match at the end of February and has been in doubt for the game against Mazatlan at the renamed Estadio Banorte.
It has also been speculated that the contract with the Portuguese Football Federation calls for the presence of CR7 in the FIFA commitment and this could be fulfilled, although not in the best way expected.
According to information from Al-Riyadh, the Portuguese national team has called up Cristiano Ronaldo and Joao Felix, from Al-Nassr, “but the participation of Ronaldo will be determined once the final medical report on his injury is published”.
Cristiano Ronaldo in Mexico for the first time
This would be the first time Cristiano Ronaldo would play in Mexico, but it remains to be seen if he can have minutes at the Azteca in case he is called up for the matches against El Tri and the United States. Initially it was thought that his injury was minor, however after undergoing studies it was revealed that the injury was more complete than previously thought. Even so, Ronaldo could be fit to have minutes in the next FIFA date so there is still hope to see the legendary player appear in the legendary stadium that has hosted two World Cups and is eagerly awaiting a third.
