Martin Demichelis, former coach of River Plate and Monterrey, experienced a moment of anguish with his family that fortunately did not turn into a fatal incident on a day that seemed normal and quiet.
Uruguayan media report that on December 31, the former player and coach was saved, along with his family, from drowning on a beach in Uruguay thanks to some surfers who observed the situation.
Journalists from the program “A la tarde” (America TV) spoke about what happened and said that on the beach Laguna Escondida in Jose Ignacio, near Punta del Este, the family of Demichelis was on vacation for New Year’s.

“They had decided to take a dip in the sea, but there came a time when they could not get out of the water,” explained the host of the television show, Karina Mazzoco, while the video of the dramatic rescue was shown on the screen.
It should be noted that the same media outlet reports that swimming is not allowed at this beach. Likewise, another of the program’s journalists, Oliver Quiroz Salazar, revealed a message he received before having access to the images, in which both the former soccer player and his eldest son, Bastian, and his niece Camila were identified.

The viral video shows how Demichelis, his son and his niece were in the sea, which was rough and with waves that gradually moved them away from the shore until at some point the force of the sea did not allow them to return.
Fortunately for the family, the distressing episode had a good outcome, as rescuers from a nearby beach who were surfing near that beach after finishing their day’s work were the saviors of Demichelis and his family. The surfers, seeing the situation in the sea, went to the rescue without thinking twice, helping the family with their surfboards, taking them to the shore so that the situation would only remain a great scare.
